Not surviving the first cut...

Well, no, there's no contest, but if there was...

BWAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!

You just nailed it. That is what is wrong with the world and the Church today. There are people in high places acting either maliciously or ignorantly (or both) that are holding up either bad or inferior artwork as the ideal forms of artwork we are to aspire to. There is a liberal attempt to destroy art by placing garbage in the museums while removing and trashing true and good art.

It is pretty obvious when you look around and see just how bad a lot of artwork is these days and you have to realize this is done on purpose. There are literally scribbles and paint smeared on a canvas, or "sculpture" which is nothing but a blob, and they have no shame in calling this "art". It is like the Emperors New Clothes or something.

Im not saying the Mass is "artwork" but the NO Mass is paraded around not only as superior but as if other rites are garbage. The NO Mass is valid and ok, but when compared side by side with other rites, esp the TLM, the TLM is easily shown to be superior.

Thankfully more and more people are seeing the truth and waking up.

Hopefully, Nick.

People are entitled to their opinions, but for the life of me I can't see how someone can see the Traditional Rite and the Novus Ordo as equal, either in beauty or in efficacy (sp).

Paul, just as said, no contest.

I thought about posting it over at Catholic Answers in the Liturgy and Sacraments forum, but it might get me banned!

Doh! And all these years I thought that the Novus Ordo Missae was invalid, illegal and all that stuff...[I guess no one bothered to tell poor old Pope St.Pius V when he wrote his "Quo Primum" and "De Defectibus" back in 1570, that the Novus Ordo Missae (New "Mass")was exempt from such anathemas!]...(Cartoon no.4...tks Paul)

Yeah, be careful Golden Girl, they don't like ANY sort of criticism over at Catholic (Kumbaya) Answers...

hahahahaa, hillarious!

But very true! TLM > NO. Though both are the same Sacrifice (inspite of the Theological weakness of the NO)

Yes, but we're not supposed to say so, Joe. That's the big elephant in the room.

I think this is part of the reason the liberals don't want anyone to experience the Latin Mass, because then many people will naturally compare the two rites, and discover that the "campfire catholicism" of the post-Vatican II crowd doesn't stack up against Traditional Catholicism.

I think this is a very good way of describing it! I've noticed that the only way to make the Novus Ordo more reverent in the "reform of the reform" movement is to make it look like the Traditional Mass. In other words, they are putting Tridentine make up on an otherwise... well.. For example: ad orientem, Eucharistic Prayer I, Communion while kneeling.. But still, it falls short in comparison.

This picture would go well with this subject matter Gerald "Kumbaya" Augustinas advocation of same-sex relationships.

Now with the rumour that the Pope is about to change the Novus Ordo to add Latin to the consecration prayers and move the handshake, er, I mean sign of peace to the offertory, your cartoon just may end up being the official symbol for our generation!

How can someone who call himself catholic make fun about a valid rite giving him the shape of a fat, ugly, smelling chick?

Man, everytime i see this kind of arrogance in the so called "traditional" catholic subculture, I see more and more arrogance and get more disgusted concerning this kind of catholicism (which I wouln't call traditional).

P.S.: I know the Latin mass and still prefer the Novus Ordo. Even though I also like the Latin Mass.

To those who refer to the 1962 Missal as the "Latin Mass" or speak of the Pope being about to "change the Novus Ordo to add Latin to the consecration prayers": please note for historical accuracy that the Roman Missal of Paul VI (novus ordo) has ALWAYS been in Latin, then translated into the vernacular. In the English Sacramentary you will find the Latin in the back ("Ordo missae cum populo", etc).

Note also that when Latin first began to be used (instead of Greek) in the Mass, Latin itself WAS the vernacular. Classical Latin was not chosen, but instead the vulgate (which means the language of the people, or the vernacular).

The Novus Ordo is not a valid rite Phil. So yes we are free to abuse it as we would a protestant rite.
